The old man.

The first time I read Hemingway, I was very young. Perhaps too young to understand what I was reading. But upon finishing “The Old Man and the Sea”, his words triggered an odd sense of foreshadowing and dark love and safety in my head and the book itself quickly became a security blanket for me. I carried it everywhere I went, and still keep a copy in my carryon bag everywhere I go. I happened upon a particularly raggedy second edition copy in a tiny used book store close to the A train’s 4th street stop on my way to shoot for a brand during NY fashion week, and was immediately inspired to create this piece. Special thanks to Josie for being patient for the mold, this is a piece that will always be near and dear to my heart, mind and imagination.
